WATERSLIDE

Camp Calvary hosts a beast of a waterslide.  Yes, it has morphed and changed over the years, and I can assure you it has greatly improved since I was an avid participant.  For some First Chance campers, it is the ultimate camp experience full of thrills and chills and great excitement.  For others, it's a bit daunting and scary, and they want no part of it.  My kiddos were at both ends of the spectrum.

This year, Jeremiah and Caleb had no qualms about it.  They jumped in line and took to the slide like pros, grinning from ear to ear, and making quite a splash at the bottom.  The boys were fearless!

Miss Rachel on the other hand was all talk and no action.  Oh yes, she was definitely going to go down the slide.  She got her swimsuit on, grabbed her towel, walked to the slide, and the onset of great panic began.  Then, complete avoidance, and finally crocodile tears.

Uncle Matthew asked if Rachel would go down the slide with him all along believing she would not agree to the proposal.  Shockingly, she was all for it.  Matthew made good on his offer.  The two got hosed down, she sat on his lap, and away they went.  Guess who had a HUGE smile all the way down?  Oh yes, fancy pants was so proud of herself she couldn't stand it!  High fives and congratulations abounded once she reached the summit.  (It's quite the hike for little feet from the bottom to the top!)  The waterslide was conquered.  Did she opt to go by herself next?  No way!  We'll save that great feat for next year :-)
